Inven-Tools 2009

Released on may 2008. For Inventor 2009. C# with .NET 2.0 framework coding.

This error is due to a component from Autodesk, a patch will solve the problem in the next release. In the meantime, it is possible to download the latest version of the Inven-Tools patch (since version 2009.1.2) which hide this problem by displaying an Inven-Tools picture when the error occurs.

You must clean an event log file. Access the event watcher (control panel->administrative tools->Event watcher. Then, select the "Logs of applications and services" directory, Quick License Manager should be listed. Right click on this item and choose "Properties", then define a log size of 2048 Ko, for example. You can also empty the log file if you want.

Inven-Tools 2008

Released on june 2007. For Inventor 2008. C# with .NET 2.0 framework coding.

If the installation fails, you must do it manually if you want to use the PDF exportation Inven-Tools function. Download the Postscript printer utilities ("Download" section), and extract the files in a local directory. Run the Vista add printer setup, click on "Add a printer" and define a local printer using the File port. Then, click on "Have Disk..." to choose the print driver and select the inventoolspdf.inf file extracted on the disk. You can choose between two printers, select the second one and validate. The printer should install correctly.

The last thing to do is eventually to rename the printer if it is named differently than IT-PSprinter.

This error is caused by the Windows regional options, the dot must be defined as a decimal symbol for a correct work with the Inven-Tools. To modify this parameter, open the control panel, select "Regional options". Into the "Regional options" tab, click on "Personnalize" and define the decimal symbol.

By default, the precision of the items of a coordinates table is 2 digits. To change this value, you must define the dimension styles to use for the origin and the coordinates of the table into the Inven-Tools options, then validate this choice and modify the linear tolerance of the specified dimensions into the Inventor styles manager.

To modify the precision of an existing table, do the same actions then selec the table, right click and choose "Edit the coordinates table". The values are recalculated with the right precision and are displayed in the edition form. Click on "Apply" to validate the modification.

This problem can occur after having installed the 2008.0.6 or a more recent version of the patch, using a property manager configuration file created with an anterior version. To correct this problem, just edit the file with the configurator, check if the linked items are specified and add it if not, then save the file.

This is due to a problem during the Postscript printer driver installation under Vista. To solve it, please download the printer utilitiies in the download section, extract the archive content into a local directory and install the printer manually by specifying the FILE port then by clicking on "Disk" and by pointing the inventoolspdf_Vista.inf from the archive.

Inven-Tools 11.1

Released on october 2006, this Inven-Tools version is designed for Inventor 11. The coding has been done in C# with the .NET framework 2.0.

In Inventor, go under "Tools", "Customize", tab "Tools bars". Then select the "Inven-Tools" bar and click on "Display".

If the tool bar is not listed, please check if the Inven-Tools addin is installed and loaded.

An error has occured during the install or there is a conflict between addins. In both cases, please re-do the global installation procedure and remove all Inven-Tools registry entries before.

If despite the reinstallation the problem is still present, try to register the Inven-Tools manually. To do it, localize the file named « RegAsm.exe », normally located in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 directory.

Then, open a command prompt, navigate to the "Regasm.exe" directory and enter the following command (may vary according to the Inven-Tools installation directory) :

RegAsm.exe /codebase "C:\Program Files\Inventools_2008\bin\Inventools.dll"

If the installation has been done without the required administrator rights, any informations located in the registry have not been deleted or modified. To solve this problem, quit Inventor and do the following operations:

  1. Open the registry (« Startup », « Execute » and enter « regedit »)
  2. Localize the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\inventools and delete it and all the subkeys
  3. Localize the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\inventools, delete it and all the subkeys

Warning : A manipulation error in the registry may have rude consequences ! Please refer to the Microsoft website for more informations on the registry editor.

The target operating system is maybe not supported by this Inven-Tools version (for example Windows Vista). Otherwise, download the postcript printer installer in the "Utilities" area of the Download section and follow the instructions contained in the ReadMe.txt file.

If, outside of the different Inven-Tools functions environments any icons appears unactive or don't do any actions, it is possible that they are icons from an old Inven-Tools release.

To solve this problem, go in Inventor under "Tools", "Customize", "Commands" tab. In the "Categories" area, click on "Addins": the available functions are listed in the "Commands" area.

Select the wished command and then drag it to the Inven-Tools tool bar, or to another wished location.

This problem is due to the "hide extensions of the files with known types" of the Windows explorer. If this option is activated, the first Inven-Tools version were exporting with wrong names. It has been corrected and you just have to install the last patch version (from the "Download" section) to obtain a correct beavior.
